Robin Miller-Bookhout
Arkansas & Louisiana, USA
Robin Miller-Bookhout was born in the United States and is a native Arkansan, currently painting in Louisiana. Robin is a retired magnet school Art Specialist with over thirty years experience in curriculum design, program design, studio/classroom instruction and community awareness in the arts. During Robin's tenure, she developed her personal style and skills in watercolour, oil pastels, chalk pastels and mixed art media while continually growing as a professional art educator and patron. She enjoys artistic traveling experiences, plein air painting, photography, as well as, studio work.
Drawing, painting, and creating artwork is Robin Miller-Bookhout's passion and Joie De Vivre. Being partial to watercolours because of it's spontaneity and free spirit, Robin also enjoys oil pastels, inks, oils, and virtually all art media.
Robin has a deep reverence to God and to the past and present influences in her life. Her artistic themes resonate of God's creations, preservation of nature, art of the heart and soul, as well as, themes relating to historical places, and still-lifes. She particularly enjoys Sumi-e, the art form of Japanese drawing because of it's historical significance and preservation of the Eastern culture and the use of the medium India ink. Robin's passion for this art form is primarily because of it's similarities to the fluidity of watercolour painting and as a result of her experimenting with this art form, she has become intrigued with Chinese brush painting.
Robin is a member of the Mid-Southern Watercolor Society, Arkansas League of Artists, Arkansas Pastel Society, Arkansas Art Center, Arkansas Art Council, and the Slidell Art League in Louisiana. She is affiliated with numerous on-line art groups which include Arkansas Committee of The National Museum Of Women in the Arts, Arkansas Artists (Visual), Arkansas Women Artists, Women in the Arts, Arkansas Artist Association, Watercolour Addicts, and has been a painter since its founding in Brazil in the 52 WEEK Nature Challenge now called ABUN.
Robin has won numerous awards and received accolades from many art groups and juried exhibits including Best in Shows, Master Artist of the Year in 2016 with the Slidell Art League and scholarship recipient 2015 for the Arkansas Committee of the National Museum for Women in the Arts for her watercolour work comparing and contrasting the habitats and culture of her native state of Arkansas with the sister state of Louisiana. While working with the ACNMWA, Robin found herself living on the NorthShore of Lake Pontchartrain and Bayou Faciane totally immersed and inspired in the wonders and beauty of the flora and fauna that surrounds her each day.
Robin Miller-Bookhout exhibits her work in numerous galleries and artistic venues. Many of her artworks are found in permanent installations and private art collections throughout the United States and abroad.
